The Shenandoah National Park has started a Preventive Search and Rescue Program (PSAR). We are recruiting students that have an interest in GIS that are physically fit and have good people skills. Basically the students in these positions educate the public regarding trail conditions and how to hike safely in the park. The students also assist in carryouts and conduct trail patrols of the high use trails. We also would like to create a GIS layer for Search and Rescue history in the park. We may not have housing available, so a student who lives in the area would be good. These are paid positions GS 4 $13.41/hour. Depending on where a student would rate out, it might be a GS 3 position. Do you have any students that may be interested? Or would it be possible for Bob Sloop and/or I to meet with you? We just received notification that we have to have our positions hired by Jan.
I will be out of town the week of Nov 29. If you have any questions or
recommendations feel free to contact Bob Sloop at 540-999-3500 x 3217, his
email is Robert_Sloop@nps.gov.
We look forward to hearing from you.
