SOL VISTA Green Building Intern

Position Overview

SOL VISTA is seeking an intelligent and driven part-time intern to work in our Silver Spring, Maryland office, located 3 blocks from Metro.  The ideal candidate should be excited about the prospect of working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, on leading edge real estate services and technology projects.  The intern’s primary responsibilities will include:

·      Assisting with the preparation and submittal of proposals.

·      Assisting with market research, data handling, and analysis.

·      Reviewing, editing, and drafting technical reports, such as building performance assessments.

·      Supporting senior management with strategic projects.

·      Performing other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

This position will begin as an unpaid part-time internship, evolving into a paid full-time internship, and later part-time and/or full-time employment for the ideal candidate.  Employees and interns have the opportunity for growth with the company pertaining to role, responsibility, and compensation.  

Responsibilities

·      Assist with the preparation and submittal of proposals.

·      Assist with market research, data handling, and analysis.

·      Review, edit, and draft technical reports, such as building performance assessments.

·      Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Requirements

·      Recent college graduates and graduate students welcome.  

·      Superior verbal and written communication skills.

·      High proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and ability to learn other software tools quickly.

·      Responsible:  Good organizational and time management skills, including daily and weekly planning.  Ability to perform multiple tasks and work independently on new assignments with minimum guidance.  Ability to appropriately set priorities with quality results. 

·      Ambitious:  Strong initiative and motivation to succeed.  Seeks excellence in workmanship, strives to enhance knowledge base through continued learning opportunities offered through academia, professional organizations, and hands-on experiences, and is motivated by the prospect of career advancement and professional growth.

·      Possess analytical/problem solving skills, data acquisition skills, and ability to use statistical tools and techniques.

·      Committed to sustainability.

·      High GPA and demonstrated technical writing skills.

Preferred

·      LEED or other green building knowledge/experience.

·      Experience with environmental projects.

·      Track record of extracurricular activities.
